What Is Air Pruning

Air pruning occurs when roots come in contact with the air on the wall/side of a Grow Bag. The root tip naturally burns out and stops growing and instead begins growing smaller side-roots. This ultimately leads to more fibrous root structure which takes in more moisture and nutrients.This is the opposite of what happens in a plastic container where a few thick roots circles the pot until it constricts itself. Air-pruning produces a stronger, healthier root system resulting in healthier plants.

With the combination of air root pruning creating a better root structure and the aeration of the root zone, your plants can reach their full potential. The porous fabric allows air into the root zone and provides great drainage, creating a healthy environment for the roots.
