Daily Maintenance of Greenhouse Film

Nov 24, 2022

Greenhouse film is relatively fragile and is easy to be damaged during use and preservation. If it is damaged during use, some temporary repair methods can be used. Common repair methods include water repair method, paper repair method, paste repair method, hot repair method and glue repair method.

The operating procedure of the water supplement method is to scrub the damaged part clean first, cut a film that is slightly larger than the damaged part without holes, dip it in water and stick it on the hole, drain the air between the two films, and press it flat.

The paper repair method is generally used for slight damage to agricultural film. After dipping in water, the paper sheet is pasted on the damaged place while it is wet. Generally, it can be used for about 10 days.

The paste filling method is to use white flour and water to make paste, and then add red lining equivalent to 1/3 of the weight of dry flour, and it can be used to fill the film after a little heating.

In addition, there is a glue repair method. Wash the holes around and apply them with a brush dipped in special glue. After 3-5 minutes, take a piece of film with the same texture and stick it on it. After the glue dries, it can be applied firmly. The thermal repair method and the glue repair method have good effects on the film, but the sewing repair method not only leaks air, but also is easy to open, and thinner greenhouse film is not suitable for use.

The film after the shed is removed shall be permanently repaired. If the film with thicker texture is damaged, it can be covered with the film with the same texture and connected with thin wires. You can also wash the damaged part, cover the hole with a slightly larger film, cover the 2-3 layers of newspaper, and gently iron the iron along the interface with an electric iron. The two films will stick together after cooling. This method is called thermal compensation.
